As is most common the nut was found to be around 110 N·m tight and secured with a lock tab. A breaker bar was needed to loosen the nut. All is in beautiful condition.

More progress made. Large crank nut is loose. Case is ready to split.

Here is another of the cranks I parted out. It has the bearing in place too. It was removed by hand from the case as well.

This is true. It is why I do not think the short method will work.
