...are these pics from the engine you´re actually disassembling right now? As most of the gearwheels (3rd and 5th) I´ve seen in the past definitely had "caries" and worn output shafts it seemed likely that the mileage was whitewashed...maybe you were lucky with your acquisition...

These above pics are from other motors. Some pics are of TT600 that hard very hard life.

I have not disassembled my engine yet. I am waiting for special tools to be shipped to me. I have the new output shaft now though.

This XT is mine on the left is mine. The XT on the right I take its motor out. It is the one with bad output.

@Manco

If you were able to pull out the crankshaft with the bearing by using only your hands, then the seat in the case is worn out. An the bearing on the right side should slip on by hand. It should have litle air between crankshaft and bearing. The bearing on the left side should be fit tight, on the shaft and in the case.

Best Regards

Michel

Below is a pic of the current stage of work. The bike is stripped down with the motor loosely fitted. The studio is prepared for the work too. I will soon begin stripping the motor in frame and preparing to remove and split the case. I will use standard case splitting procedures as detailed in service manuals.

More progress made. Large crank nut is loose. Case is ready to split.

As is most common the nut was found to be around 110 N·m tight and secured with a lock tab. A breaker bar was needed to loosen the nut. All is in beautiful condition.
